One Mind Recipe List

Red Wheat Citrus Bomb (23A. Specialty Beer) Collapse Red Wheat Citrus Bomb
  • Base Malt(s):
    9lbs White Wheat
  • Other Grain(s): N/A
  • Hops:
    .5oz Galena @60min
    1oz Citra @10min
    1oz Citra @5min
    1oz Citra @0min
  • Other:
    Zest of 5 Oranges, 4 Lemons, 2 Grapefruits.
    Slice & blend two red beets with approximately 4 cups of water. Strain solids. Add with zest at 5mins.
  • Yeast:
    US-05
  • Starter: N/A
  • Notes:
    This is a delicious, easy drinking beer. The main flavors come from the Citra additions, though if you know what you're looking for you can certainly detect the flavors coming through from the zest additions. The beets add a glorious color, and no detectable flavor.

German Hefeweizen (15A. Weizen/Weissbier) Collapse German Hefeweizen
  • Base Malt(s):
    4lbs White Wheat
    4lbs Pilsner
  • Other Grain(s): N/A
  • Hops:
    1oz Hallertau @ FWH
  • Other:
    N/A
  • Yeast:
    WLP300
  • Starter: 1L
  • Notes:
    This has been by far the most in-demand of the beers I've made.
    It is an exceedingly simple beer fermented at between 65 and 69F, it is well balanced with clove and banana flavor.
    Refreshing and delicious is the best way to describe this beer.
    Update 8/27/14: If you want a banana bomb, do this recipe but open ferment (do not seal the fermenting vessel) for 72hrs. It's amazing.

Mt. Barley (19C. American Barleywine) Collapse Mt. Barley
  • Base Malt(s):
    10lbs Munich
    6lbs Amber LME
  • Other Grain(s):
    1lb Crystal 40
  • Hops:
    0.5oz Summit (60, 0)
    1oz Summit (10, 5)
  • Other:
    1.5lbs Brown Sugar (10mins boil)
  • Yeast:
    US-05 (3 packs, rehydrated)
  • Starter: N/A
  • Notes:
    This beer came out to a whopping 12.5% ABV and is full of awesome malty flavor along with some Summit flavors, though most of it seems to be malt at this point (month in the bottles). Will update further with more tasting notes as applicable.

Not Red Irish Red (9D. Irish Red Ale) Collapse Not Red Irish Red
  • Base Malt(s):
    9lbs 2-row
    2lbs Maris Otter
  • Other Grain(s):
    12oz C40
    4oz Special B
    4oz Roasted Barley
  • Hops:
    1oz Fuggle (60min)
    1oz Cascade (5min)
  • Other:
    N/A
  • Yeast:
    US-05 (Rehydrated)
  • Starter: N/A
  • Notes:
    While this tastes very much like an Irish Red should, it certainly doesn't appear all that red. There is a very slight red tint to it, so technically it counts! If I had to make a change (and I will when I do it again) it would be bumping up the Special B and Roasted Barley 2oz each.
